Inevitably, anything that takes time and the task of searching costs in some way.

We don’t have an issue with the physical and mental effort up to a point because we know that finding something we like, means we have to put the legwork in and set our mind to the goal.

But finding a home is itself an expense and not many people even realise it. Think about the hours and hours of motorway driving, the money for petrol and snacks along the way etc. Going to and fro from the homes you’re interested in train is no easy day for your wallet either. You’re only going up to look at the home for perhaps a couple of minutes but the train journey can cost you triple digits and hours and hours of travelling.

Is all of this unavoidable? Yes and no, because you do have the option of doing the majority of your search online nowadays. Looking at the home is different to studying the home face-to-face. Waiting and waiting for the right home is one thing, but the process can take its toll also.

Nonsensical solicitors

Buying a home will always be a long process. But just because it’s long doesn’t mean it should be drawn out.

Solicitors not taking your case seriously are the number one reason that causes frustrations. As to why this is, is anybody’s guess. Usually, it’s because they have full plates with other clients on their bookings. Also, the simple fact is that if your home is not in the upper echelons of pricing, some firms may simply take the task force on your case, and move them over to a more lucrative sale.

This hurts you in two ways. One, you’re constantly making payments to these nonsensical solicitors, and without much being done, it’s money down the drain. Two, the seller might just get more frustrated than you are and simply move onto another buyer who has already made an offer.

If your solicitor is taking too long, rather than argue or leave messages on their answering machine telling them to kindly hurry up, just move on to another firm.

First-timers

First-time buyers are the baby fawns of the real estate market and seller and real estate agents know this.

Any sensible person knows that unless they privately build their own home, chances are very high that you won’t find your absolute dream home. Solicitors are running a business, even though they work in the legal field, they don’t have an obligation to you and you alone when it comes to buying a house.

Any firm stretching your patience should be dropped and replaced. First-time buyers have excellent help to find them a great home, but since there are so many first-timers, don’t wait around too long in the open market or you’ll miss out.
