Being able to work from home as a freelancer can be a great thing for many people.
It offers some flexibility, and can even work around any existing commitments that you have.
But after a while of doing it, you may quite rightly, be looking to take the business to the next level. You might have more work than you can do alone, or need an assistant to help with the demand of tasks. You may have more and more clients wanting to meet face to face too. It could be a whole number of things.
So here are some of the ways that you can expand a working from home business, to get you onto earning six figures before you know it.
Increase Your Rates
If you feel like you have more work on than you can handle, then are you charging enough? That can be the first thing to answer yourself. If you can charge more, then it can mean a reduced workload but no cut in income, or it means you can afford to pay someone else to help you. It can go up and up from there.
Spend To Increase Knowledge
If you are going to spend money anywhere in the business, then increasing your skill set is always going to be a good thing. New books, new courses, and everything in between, can make you better at what you do, and more of an expert in your field.
Take Your Structure To The Next Level
If you don’t have the need for an assistant five days a week, or only need office space a couple of times a month, then it could be a good idea to look into something like a virtual office space. With professional answer machine systems, emails forwarding, and meeting room space for when you need it, it makes your business look more professional, and can get you more clients as you’ll be taken more seriously.
Vary Services
You will need to have expertise in the areas that you branch out to, but it can make a difference if you can diversify and offer other things. If you’re a graphic designer, then can you offer website design, as well as logos, for example? If you are a writer, can you offer copywriting or guest blogging as an option? When you offer more, it will increase the number of people that will be interested in your services.
Step Up Your Marketing
If people don’t know how to find you, then how are they going to know what you offer? It could be that your marketing strategy is somewhat lacking. Online and offline can both work well, depending on what your business is. If it is more of a face to face business, then local marketing can be a good idea. Anything online based is better using online marketing.
Cutting some unnecessary costs and getting out there to network are all valid ways to help build up the business too. Are there any that you will get started with?
