You may not be a qualified developer, designer or software technician, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t earn money from home with the tech skills that you DO possess. Sure, companies out there like to bring on the best of the best, but just because you haven’t got a specific certificate gathering dust in your file drawer doesn’t mean you’re not the best.
Tech skills are in high demand right now. The digital world is growing at an unprecedented rate, which means that you are the person that could make big changes. Individuals and companies everywhere need your skills, because they all need websites and content. A business isn’t a business that is reputable without a website today; relevance is everything and while the local community may love a tiny business and show it some loyalty, it’s much harder to find success without that website. This means that people will be coming to you to get what they need.
Don’t worry if you’re new to it all. The point here is that you have skills that you can use. If you’re still new, you could start by doing as much research as you can, from the programmes that you could be installing to work from to reading the Agile Manifesto. Your tech skills can be supported by your tech knowledge. So, what sort of things could you do to start making some cash as a newbie?
Image Editing
Photoshop is such a huge thing nowadays, and while you may not be scrubbing out blemishes on the face of a model, there are plenty of companies out there who will ask for help with making their images look bolder and brighter. You can take courses to learn how to edit images, but if you’re already a dab hand with Photoshop, you may not need to.
Branding
Creating logos, designing templates for business websites and generally understanding what it takes to run a brand from the tech side of things can get you noticed. Think about typography, mood boards and colour palettes and let your imagination fly away with you.
Web Design
As we mentioned, almost everyone out there now needs a website for their business to be a successful one. You could be the helping hand in building and crafting a website, from the text boxes that will link to the customer to the pages that form their business information. They may have got some advice already about where to get the best web content, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t give the design of their website a go.
Site Maintenance
For every website on the internet, there is a person just like you who is sitting and keeping it secure. Debugging, updating and maintaining the software can be charged at an hourly rate, so figure out whether your skills could set you up here and market yourself to others.
