Get paid to receive messages

There are a few different apps that pay you just to receive text messages! That’s right, you don’t have to reply, or even read the texts.

This is because mobile network operators all over the world need to test the deliverability of their SMS services. These apps work with the networks to test that text messages are being sent and received correctly.

You just need to download the apps on your phone and enter your details. Then you wait to receive messages.

Earn money by receiving text messages

The messages are typically just a bunch of random letters and numbers. The app reads the code and sends the data back to their server. According to the apps, they only access the texts with their code (not your private messages).

You only get paid a few pennies per text. So it definitely won’t make you rich. But it is incredibly passive – as long as you can stand receiving loads of nonsense texts!

Apparently, you can increase the number of texts you get over time by making sure you’re always connected to the app and with good phone coverage.

Here are a few apps that let you get paid to receive text messages. These only work on Android phones – I couldn’t find any equivalents for iPhones, sorry:

Money SMS

Money SMS app pays €0.02 per message. They send out messages every 24 hours.

Once your balance reaches €2, you can withdraw your money by PayPal, WebMoney or BitCoin.

They also have a referral program, so you can make extra money by introducing your friends.

SMS Profit

SMS Profit state that they pay between $0.01 and $0.06, but according to other reviews the average is $0.02. You should receive at least one message every 24 hours.

You can cash out once your balance reaches $2. Payment methods are PayPal or Bitcoin.

McMoney

McMoney pays around $0.051 per text. You should get one every 2-3 days.

The payment threshold is $5.00 and they pay by Paypal.

McMoney also has a refer-a-friend program.

Get paid to answer text messages

There are a few different sites and apps that pay you to answer text messages. It depends on your skills and experience.

1Q

1Q is a market research company that texts you survey questions and pays you to answer!

It pays $0.25 for every question you answer. They’re mostly multiple choice, so it doesn’t take long.

And the best part is, it pays out instantly to your PayPal. No more waiting months until you reach some impossible payment threshold – you literally get paid in seconds.

In my experience, I only get a few messages each month, and sometimes don’t hear anything for weeks. So we’re not talking big money here. But it literally takes seconds. And it all helps!

AQA63336

The ‘AQA’ in AQA 63336 stands for ‘Any Question Answered’. This is a service where people can text their questions and receive an answer by text message. They occasionally hire researchers who get paid to answer the text messages.

Once upon a time you could make a few £100 each month working for 63336 and similar companies. Nowadays, obviously, these services are not as popular as they once were, now that everyone has a smartphone and internet access. But researching this article, I found that AQA 63336 is still active in 2021.

The problem is that they don’t recruit in large numbers any more. The website states that they are hiring, but many recent applicants say they never heard back.

So don’t get your hopes up. But if the work sounds interesting to you, it’s worth reaching out to them – you might get lucky.

Apply by sending your CV and cover letter to feedback@63336.com.

Get paid to text chat UK

The most common way to get paid to text chat is working for adult text lines.

Ok, it’s not for everyone! Feel free to skip this section if the idea makes you blush.

You need to be open minded, not easily offended and have a good sense of humour.

Of course, it goes without saying that you’ll need to be over 18 (legit companies will ask for ID). And you’ll also need a decent typing speed.

Adult text chat operator jobs

Here are some companies hiring for adult text chat operator jobs in the UK:

  • Texkings
  • Cloudworkers
  • Operador Chat
  • AdultChatJobs

All of the above companies let you remain completely anonymous. There is no requirement to send photos or personal information. In fact, you’ll often be texting as a pretend character, taking shifts with other text operators!

These companies hire men and women. You get paid per message, so the faster you can type and respond, the more you can earn.

How much money can you make texting?

The companies that pay you to receive text messages don’t pay very much, and you won’t get a huge volume of messages. Realistically, you won’t earn more than a couple of pounds per month with these.

You might decide it’s not worth it. But on the other hand, it takes zero effort from you, so it’s basically money for nothing!

If you combine these with a few other money making apps, the money can start to add up.

The most profitable way to get paid to text is with adult text chat. This won’t make you rich either, but it’s possible to make a good few hundred pounds a month part time.

It’s difficult to say exactly how much you will earn because they pay per message, not per hour. So it depends on your typing and response speed.

Of course, you’ll get quicker over time. And some of them even increase your rate as you get more experienced.
